In the investigation of the passing of the late Hal Moores, authorities have come across a written journal, depicting what can only be deemed a miracle. Hal Moores was the warden at Cold Mountain Penitentiary. The following excerpt was recovered from a journal in his bedroom.
“I’m the warden at the ‘Green Mile’ and there are some strange things about these prisoners. My wife, Melinda had been dying of a serious brain tumor and it was clear she was going to pass in the coming days. I’m not one to be a believer in magic and fate. My wife was alone with the prisoner John Coffey at some point tonight. When he went in; she had a brain tumor and was going to die. When he left; she was healed and healthy. John Coffey is in prison for the rape and murder of two women. A man who would have done horrid things like that…is it possible he healed my wife? Is it even possible a human being has the ability to magically heal someone? I’m not even sure what to think.”
Investigators were puzzled by this account and decided to investigate further. They originally wanted to discuss with the man himself, Mr. John Coffey, but found that he had been put to death. They instead chose to discuss this strange story with Paul Edgecombe, the man who worked most closely with Coffey during his time on Death Row.
Paul Edgecombe was uncooperative and would not disclose information to the investigators. Mr. Edgecombe would only constantly plead that John Coffey was a great man.
It was also found that Melinda Coffey only remembered being healed by doctors.
