Sixto Ortega was a loving father, husband, and employer, was shot and killed on April 11th 1930 close to midnight by bandits while trying to fix a broken part in his fence with a few workers. Many other landowners in the area are greedy and mean, but not Sixto. He was only out for the good of his workers, all of which he considered his friends, and he would do anything for them. Much of the profits from the ranch were saved for his daughter and wife, Esperanza and Ramona, to live a good life. He was a trusted member of our community and he will be missed greatly. The funeral will be held on April 14th at 3 o’clock in the vineyard.
